FEATURES: Industrial structure, composed of prestressed concrete and steel elements, for storing natural gas in liquid state. The structure weighs 160,000 tons and is 50 meters high; it has the capacity to store 175,000 m3 of liquid natural gas at -164 C °.

SEISMIC PROTECTION SYSTEM TYPE: Elastomeric seismic isolation.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: The system consists of 501 elastomeric isolators and 208 lead core isolators, which support an insulation slab of 94 meters in diameter (95 cm average thickness). Given the complexity of the project, a complex computational model in ANSYS (finite element modeling software) was developed.
